Taking a picture of a print? Lay it flat by a window in daylight and turn off the flash, so there's no glare.

How to restore old military photos

  1. Scan the print or take a straight, well-lit phone picture of it (no flash, avoid glare).
  2. Drop the photo into the box above and pick what to fix.
  3. Wait 10–60 seconds while the AI restores it.
  4. Drag the slider to compare, then download the restored photo.

What old service photos usually need

Turn on "Repair scratches and tears" for folded or cracked prints, and use ✦ Deep repair (credits and Pro) for heavily crackled emulsion.

A note on colorizing uniforms

The AI chooses believable colors for skin, sky and fabric, but it cannot know the exact shade of a uniform, insignia or ribbons. If accuracy matters, for a museum display or a unit history, keep the restored black-and-white version as your reference and treat the colorized copy as an interpretation.

Frequently asked questions

Can it fix a photo that was folded in a wallet for decades?

Fold lines and cracks are exactly what scratch repair is for. Deep tears with missing pieces may still need some manual retouching afterwards.

Will the AI change medals or insignia?

Restoration sharpens what is there; it does not add or remove objects. Very small details like ribbon bars may be smoothed, so compare with the original before printing.

Do you keep my photos?

No. Your photo is processed by our AI provider and deleted within an hour. We never store, view or train on your photos.
