Taking a picture of a print? Lay it flat by a window in daylight and turn off the flash, so there's no glare.

How to repair scratched, creased and torn photos

  1. Scan the print or take a straight, well-lit phone picture of it (no flash, avoid glare).
  2. Drop the photo into the box above and pick what to fix.
  3. Wait 10–60 seconds while the AI restores it.
  4. Drag the slider to compare, then download the restored photo.

What damage can be fixed

Scanning a damaged print

Scan at 600 dpi if you can. Flatbed scanners light the print evenly, which makes damage easier to separate from the picture. With a phone, lay the photo flat in daylight next to a window and shoot straight from above without flash.

Do not try to flatten a brittle, curled print by force. Scanning it slightly curled is better than cracking it further.

Frequently asked questions

Will it fix a photo torn in half?

Clean tears and cracks usually disappear. If pieces are missing, the AI fills small gaps but large missing areas need manual retouching.

Why does scratch repair take longer?

Finding damage is a separate AI model that analyses the whole photo. It typically adds 20–50 seconds.

Does it change the people in the photo?

Face restoration sharpens eyes, skin and hair based on the original. It aims to keep the person recognizable, but for very blurry faces small details are reconstructed.
